In Andalusia the day is built around heat and shade. Ceremonies happen in the golden hour, dinners begin late, and the courtyards stay cool long after the sun goes down.
The architecture does most of the decorating: tiled walls, carved arches, fountains and orange trees that have been there for centuries.
Dinner at ten, dancing at one, and nobody checking the time.
Planning the weekend
Give guests three days rather than one. A welcome evening in a tapas bar, the wedding in a cortijo, and a slow lunch the day after are more generous than any favour.
Travel between Seville, Ronda and Granada is easy, so many couples turn the wedding into the start of a longer journey.
